"When it's Tulip Time in Pella, every dutch girl has a dutch fella, one who walks down the street in his wooden shoes, in a shirt of green or yella!" Dutchess song 1982
Well, you missed it! Tulip Time was last weekend and not one of you called to say that you were in town for the festival! :-) It was 3 beautiful days of fun, food, and frolicking around town in dutch costumes and wooden shoes....at least for part of the population! The temps were in the 60's all 3 days. Not too hot and not too cold. The girls and I rode our church's float on Saturday. Dutch costumes were required, so we went to my sister Bonnie's house and dug through her stash for costumes for Angie & Katey. Lauren had one from last year that still fit and I borrowed my mom's. It was so much fun to be in the parade. I never knew how many complete and total strangers would wave at us....just like we were good friends with them! Ha! Our church is 150 years old this year, so it was quite an honor for us to be float participants this year.
Matt stayed busy with the boy scout booth in the park near our house and the TSA (Technology Student Association) booth uptown and carrying the flag in the parade. He experienced the festivities more than all of us put together. He was gone almost all day all three days!
Bob on the other hand, completely missed TulipTime this year due to rotator cuff surgery on his right shoulder on Thursday morning. He wasn't much in the mood for crowds all weekend and stayed put in the recliner for most of Thursday and Friday. Saturday he thought he might like to venture out to the grocery store. That was fun for a little bit, and then it was time to go home and stay put the rest of the day and all of Sunday! We had our post op visit today in DSM. Appears as though he'll be off work for at least 3 weeks. It's a workman's comp claim, which is a blessing actually. I would not have wanted to pay for that surgery and deal with 3 weeks without pay! We're praying that he'll be able to go back to work the first of June on light duty and be back to full duty by the end of the summer. Dr. Neff said that it could take up to 6 months for complete healing, or as complete as the healing will get. Time will tell how much use he'll end up with. We know that it won't be 100%, but hopefully it will be at least 80% back to normal. And as you know, Bob doesn't sit still very well, so being home with his arm in a sling for 3 weeks may be a testing of his patience. ;-) You can pray about that too!
Angie is home for this week and then returns to MO for 7 weeks of work. Then she's off to CO for a month and then be home fora few weeks in August before heading back to school. This Wednesday she's having her wisdom teeth removed.........guess she'll just have to study harder without them! :-)
That's about all that's new from Diane's Place.....I'm sorry I didn't get to hug you Jeanne............just go find somebody in OOP, I'm sure they'll share some of the one's I left there! hehehe
Love to you all!
Diane
