The wind and snow arrived yesterday, and it is officially winter in my hometown. Brrrr.....I must admit it was pretty when it was big and fluffy, for about 5 minutes.....and then it was wet and sticky. Good for snowmen making, if it wasn't so dad blasted windy and cold! :-)
Went out for supper last night with mom & the girls and a few husbands. It's always good to get together, but sometime's someone's feelings get hurt, and then it's not as much fun anymore. Last night it was mom's. She was on edge anyway b/c it would have been her & dad's anniversary today, 51 years. And that was the reason for our gathering, except nobody mentioned the words "dad" or "anniversary" so when something was said that wasn't very nice, she got up and left in a huff. Sigh......how long does grief last? Pastor Steve told me that it never goes away, it just becomes a part of who we are and we learn to live differently. I suppose there is some truth in that.
Today is the day I go in to work early, and then leave for a couple of appointments, and then come back to work, and then go to church for LTW's and then to GEMS. Unless the weather stays nasty, and then we'll stay home tonight! :-) Wednesday's seem to fly by quickly because they are so busy!
Well, happy day to whoever may read this.
Until next time.....

Welcome to my corner of the Universe
This is really just a personal journal of things in my life. I don't update often, just when I need to vent or do some therapeutic journaling. I'm glad you stopped by. If you feel like leaving some encouragement, please do so...we all need a kind word every now and again! Have a blessed day!
About Me
- iowegian
- I'm a 45 year old mother of 4 biological children and currently 2 other little ones who are living with us temporarily. I've been in love with the same man since 1981 and appreciate him more and more the longer we are together. I delayed going to college until I was in my 40's, a decision I don't regret as it has been a wonderful experience for me. I have learned so much and having several years of life experience has given me great perspective.

well, I'm reading it! I'll check it every few days to see what you're up to!
Be patient with Mom - some days are harder than others and grief is long lasting. I think grief is harder to handle the older we get - life stretches out before us without much hope of our days changing when we are older and lose a spouse. And, no, you and your sisters aren't enough to make it better for your mom. It's just a hard time.
I loved seeing pictures of the house and the trees - believe it or not, we actually had quite a bit of beautiful reds this year in town - I don't know what trees we have that turn red but they did it this year with a bang!
We had cold and snow yesterday - wasn't so bad that I rode with Dale and today is beautiful. I hope it holds on this way until we can get out of town on Friday.
We're headed to Kansas City to see Brett and the girls this weekend and then we'll stay Thanksgiving week and get a chance to see a few of our good friends and some family. My sister is on her way to Leothoso today so we won't get to see her and her brood like we had hoped. While we're in Kansas City, we'll do lots of celebrating this weekend. We'll do Christmas with the girls - a few gifts and shopping for the rest on Saturday so things fit. Then, we'll also celebrate Ashleigh's birthday while we're together (12/21 she'll be 12) and Brittany's (our little friend) Sweet 16 birthday and give her her Christmas, too.
Brittany's mom is a barrel rider and has 8-10 horses most of the time. One weekend about a month ago, she gave Ashleigh one of the horses so we'll get to meet the horse this weekend, too. Ashleigh is so excited about the horse and every weekend Brett has the girls they head out to Brittany's to spend the night so she can take care of him. The rest of the time Brittany's mom takes care of him.
Check my blog the week of 11/28 and I'll have some new pictures of the girls up there - and probably some of her horse, too.
Give all the Mitchells a hug for us - we miss getting your house ready for Santa!!!!
Jeanne
